What you believe, in your heart, is what you see, feel, hear, smell, taste and know to be your truth
I love this topic, it blows my mind, creating much room for discussion when placebo is stacked against all medical procedures, including natural medicine.
What is a placebo?
“A placebo is a sham substance or treatment which is designed to have no therapeutic value. Common placebos include inert tablets (like sugar pills), inert injections (like saline), sham surgery and other procedures”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo 22/2/22
Placebo is used in medicine today to establish the effectiveness of an experimental medication, vaccine or surgery. It is used as the gold standard double blind (two groups of participants) of clinical trials (experiments). Each group in the double blind study has no idea whether they are experiencing the real drug or the fake drug, for example. Even surgery effectiveness can be tested this way where incisions are made but no procedure is carried out. Not sure I would enjoy that clinical trial. An experimental medical procedure can only be classified effective if it out performs the placebo experiment.
Up to 80% of placebo interventions are an effective treatment
The placebo fact is a thorn in the side of many medical establishments. Our physical bodies will do whatever our mental emotional awareness will allow or believe. The human body will always do its ultimate care of healing to recalibrate and bring back to homeostasis (balance).
“Neuroscience has proved that the body can cure ‘incurable illness’ with the right conditions” Dr Irina Webster
I met Dr Webster at a conference eighteen months ago. She has many healing stories from her patients. Her own journey of placebo medical research was initiated upon healing her severe uterus fibroids with extensive bleeding, within three days of actioning her new awareness of self-healing. If this topic interests you, ’Mind over Matter’ is my personal account of a self-healing experience. It can be found on my website in the Living Well Articles.
This Placebo article was brief, just to awaken your appetite for the next instalment, where I take you on a journey of self-healthcare.
